What happens when you combine watercolors and embroidery?

Well, mostly, you make holes in the paper when you make too many French knots.

I wanted to see if this would work, especially working on paper instead of fabric. I wanted more control with the painting that way. I’m not entirely sure that I’ll continue down this path but it has inspired me to dig out my half-finished embroidery projects!
