Drawing and painting in Photoshop

Although I went to school for design and use some combination of Adobe programs almost every day, I never really learned how to use Photoshop for anything beyond photo editing and retouching. I’ve always wanted to develop my skills in digital drawing and painting and move beyond doing vector work in Illustrator.

Thanks to spending a lot more time at home lately (can the last nine months really be considered “lately”?) and a newly purchased Skillshare subscription, I finally decided to do something about that.

And I discovered an unexpected bonus: If I use old photographs of mine as reference images for practice sketches, I can relive all my old trips as I draw!

First up: a landscape from the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.

I have a couple more Skillshare classes lined up on the topic (and a lot to learn in general!), but I’m really enjoying the practice so far.
