Ireland, Pt. 1

I spent 10 days earlier this month on an amazing whirlwind trip around Ireland and Northern Ireland with my husband, parents, and family friends. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I’m so glad we took it and so grateful for everything we did on the trip!

Logistics-wise, my mother did the majority of the planning with Brack Tours and, together, they did such an amazing job. From our end, we self-isolated beforehand, made use of at-home Covid tests, and got tested before flying back to the US as well. It was a little surreal to go on such a big trip after the last few years, but it felt as safe as it could be and I felt like we were in very good hands.

Art-wise, I was really torn on taking a camera or not. I like having a toy camera of some kind when I travel, but I wasn’t motivated to carry one around or get film developed this time around. Instead, I backed a travel watercolor palette and a sketchbook.

I had visions of painting every evening, but the truth is that we packed so much into every day that I usually opted for an early bedtime instead! So I ended up with just a few sketches.

Between these and all the photos I took on my phone, I feel like I have a lot of proper paintings of Ireland ahead of me!
