Rainy weekend away

I spent the last weekend out in Packwood with a friend at the cutest little red A-frame (appropriately called Little Red!). We went out there with the plan of having a relaxing weekend away, taking advantage of the hot tub and reading as many books as possible.

The weather conspired to give us the most relaxing weekend possible - heavy rains and strong winds meant that we lost power for about eight hours on Saturday! We had absolutely everything we needed at the cabin, so we just embraced the fact that we couldn’t putz around on our phones even if we wanted to and dove deeper into our books.

Prior to the trip, I was feeling a little bit burnt out and struggling with creativity. I chose to pack up all kinds of things and threw my watercolor sketchbook and paints into my bag at the last minute. But I’m so happy that I did! Not only did I get to do some painting by lantern-light during the power outage, I feel like I’ve returned with renewed motivation and a slew of new ideas to work on!

I’m already itching to get back to Little Red, but I’ll entertain myself with all the new painting plans in the meantime…
