Test knitting AKA knitting on a deadline

I have always really loved the knitting designs of Jennifer Berg at Native Knitter but haven’t actually knit any of the pieces as most of her patterns are on hats and scarves and I’ve already knit more of each of those than I could really wear in a lifetime!

When she put a call out for test knitters for a new sweater design before it was published, I jumped at the chance. I was a little wary because I usually take my time with knitting projects and I knew this would have a deadline so that testers could get feedback to the designer in time. However, the pattern I tested, the Sheep Camp sweater, turned out to be a super fun (and quick!) project!

The best part was the gorgeous yoke.

I lagged a bit on the last sleeve of the sweater, but once I got over that hump, it was smooth sailing. Turns out the key to a quick knit for me is a combination of a wonderful pattern, cropped sleeves, and thicker yarn!

Even Toopie is a fan of the final result!

All in all, the pattern was an absolute dream to work with and I love the finished sweater. I thought that knitting to a deadline would stress me out, but it was kind of a breeze with this project. I don’t think I need to set myself a deadline for everything I knit but I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for test knitting projects for other designers whose work I really like!
